Commercial Airflow Solutions
Commercial Airflow & Thermal Destratification Solutions
Improve cooling comfort in summer, optimise heating performance in winter and promote more consistent conditions throughout your building with an Airius airflow circulation system.
Airius systems do not produce cooled or heated air. They use patented, controlled airflow circulation, thermal destratification and thermal equalisation to make better use of environmental conditions and HVAC systems already available within the space.
Improve Cooling Comfort and Heating Performance Through Optimised Airflow Circulation
Comfort problems are not always caused by insufficient cooling or heating. They can also result from how airflow is distributed throughout the building.
Cooled air may not reach occupied areas evenly, while warm air naturally rises away from floor level and accumulates at ceiling level. As a result, buildings can develop hot spots, cold spots, stagnant areas and significant temperature differences.
Airius systems create controlled, continuous airflow throughout the space. During warmer conditions, this improves air circulation and perceived cooling comfort. During cooler conditions, it counteracts thermal stratification through effective destratification, helping to return available heat to occupied zones and promote thermal equalisation.
-
01
Thermal stratification
The development of temperature layers within a building, where warmer air accumulates above the occupied zone while cooler, denser air becomes trapped and difficult to circulate at lower levels.
-
02
Thermal destratification
The process of using controlled airflow to circulate and ‘mix’ the different temperature layers to balance thermal conditions.
-
03
Thermal equalisation
The intended result: a more consistent distribution of airflow and temperatures throughout the space, in most cases to within 1 to 2°C between the floor and ceiling.

One Airflow System. Two Seasonal Roles.
A properly designed Airius airflow circulation system can support building comfort and HVAC performance throughout the year.
Improve Cooling Comfort Through Better Airflow
During warmer conditions, Airius systems generate consistent airflow throughout the occupied space, helping reduce stagnant areas and uneven comfort conditions.
Where air conditioning or evaporative cooling is installed, improved airflow can help distribute supplied cooled air more effectively. Where no active cooling is operating, increased air movement may still improve perceived comfort through the cooling effect of air passing across the skin.
- Improved airflow throughout occupied areas
- Better distribution of air supplied by cooling systems
- Reduced hot spots and stagnant zones
- Improved perceived cooling comfort
- More consistent conditions across large spaces
- Better use of existing cooling infrastructure
Optimise Heating Through Destratification
During cooler conditions, heated air naturally rises and can accumulate at ceiling level, particularly in warehouses, factories, sports facilities and other high-volume buildings.
Airius systems use controlled airflow to counteract this thermal stratification, returning accumulated warm air to floor level and circulating it throughout the occupied space. This thermal destratification supports thermal equalisation and helps the building make better use of the heat already being produced.
- More even airflow and temperature distribution
- Improved delivery of heat to occupied areas
- Reduced accumulation and heat loss at ceiling level
- Faster recovery towards the desired occupied-zone temperature
- Reduced demand on existing heating systems
- Improved occupant comfort
Enhancing Building Comfort with Optimised Airflow Circulation
Airius is a commercial airflow and thermal management solution, not a stand-alone heating or cooling system.
What an Airius system can do
- Create controlled airflow throughout buildings and spaces
- Improve the distribution of supplied cooled or heated air
- Increase air movement and perceived cooling comfort
- Counteract thermal stratification through destratification
- Support greater thermal equalisation
- Help existing HVAC systems serve the occupied zone more effectively
- Recirculate accumulated heat from ceiling level
- Reduce stagnant areas and uneven conditions
What an Airius system does not do
- Refrigerate or mechanically cool the air
- Generate heat
- Independently control temperature or humidity
- Replace air conditioning where active cooling is required
- Replace heating equipment where no usable heat source is available
Depending on the building, application and desired outcome, Airius operates alongside existing cooling or heating equipment or forms part of an airflow circulation only comfort strategy.
Improve Heating Performance Through Optimised Airflow
By returning accumulated warm air to the occupied zone, Airius can improve the effectiveness of a building’s heating system and reduce the amount of heating infrastructure required for suitable applications.
Every building and space has its own unique properties, characteristics and thermal dynamics. Height, layout, insulation, air leakage, existing HVAC services and operating schedules can all influence system design. Contact us to arrange a site-specific survey for your application.
Reduction in Heating Plant Required
An appropriately designed Airius destratification system can reduce the heating plant required by up to 30%, depending on the building, heating strategy and operating conditions.
Improvement in Heating Output
By using controlled airflow to circulate warm air that would otherwise remain at ceiling level, Airius can improve heating output by up to 50% within the occupied space.

Where Airius Airflow Systems Deliver the Greatest Value
Airius systems are particularly well suited to buildings where airflow and temperature can be difficult to distribute evenly.
The correct airflow system depends on more than floor area alone. Ceiling height, building layout, occupancy, heat loads, insulation, air leakage, HVAC services and operational requirements all influence the design.

Understanding Airius Airflow Solutions
Clear answers about cooling, heating, destratification, thermal equalisation and system suitability.
Do Airius airflow systems cool the air?
No. Airius systems do not use refrigeration and do not mechanically reduce air temperature. They improve airflow and increase perceived cooling comfort by creating consistent air movement across occupied areas. When used with air conditioning or evaporative cooling, an Airius system also helps distribute supplied cooled air more evenly throughout buildings and spaces.
Do Airius systems generate heat?
No. Airius systems do not contain heating elements. They use patented, controlled airflow to recirculate warm air that has risen and accumulated at ceiling level, returning it to the occupied zone.
What is the difference between thermal destratification and thermal equalisation?
Thermal destratification is the process of using continuous airflow circulation to break down temperature layers and redistribute accumulated warm air from ceiling level back to floor level. This continuous circulation mixes air at different temperatures, helping reduce vertical temperature differentials. Thermal equalisation is the intended outcome: a more consistent distribution of airflow and temperature throughout buildings and spaces.
Can the same airflow system be used during summer and winter?
Yes, absolutely. Subject to system design, the same Airius installation can improve airflow and cooling comfort during warmer conditions, then support thermal destratification and heating performance during cooler conditions. In fact, these are the types of installations that benefit from the highest energy and HVAC cost savings, in addition to greater carbon emission reductions.
Can Airius operate when the cooling system is turned off?
Yes. Improved airflow alone may increase perceived cooling comfort, even when no cooled air is being supplied.
Can Airius operate without a heating system?
Yes, but its winter effectiveness depends on usable heat being present within the building. The system can use airflow to redistribute heat generated by occupants, equipment, processes, solar gain or other sources, but it does not create heat itself.
Can improved airflow reduce cooling or heating energy use?
Airius systems help existing cooling and heating systems operate more effectively by improving airflow circulation and thermal distribution. They ensure that cooler, denser, heavier air is spread evenly and not trapped in difficult to circulate areas, while also returning otherwise unused high-level heat to occupied areas instead of pooling at the ceiling or being lost through the roof. This reduces the workload and output required from HVAC systems, which in turn reduces running costs or plant required.
How do I know which Airius airflow solution is right for my building?
The best starting point is a project assessment. Airius can review your building, comfort levels, existing services, airflow challenges and desired outcomes before recommending an appropriate system design.
